Introduction
The Challenge
As a globally recognised electronic music artist, Jafunk needed a distinctive online presence that would stand out in a crowded digital landscape whilst effectively selling merchandise to fans worldwide. The existing generic eCommerce solutions lacked the customisation options necessary to reflect the unique artistic identity and provide the seamless user experience required for a dedicated fanbase across multiple countries. Additionally, the platform needed to integrate with tour dates, music releases, and social media to create a cohesive digital ecosystem.
Our Approach
We began by conducting extensive research on music artist eCommerce platforms, identifying key pain points and opportunities for innovation. Working closely with Jafunk, we developed a creative direction that would translate the distinctive visual aesthetic and musical style into a compelling digital experience. Our approach prioritised mobile responsiveness, international shipping capabilities, and seamless payment processing across different currencies, while maintaining visual consistency with the artist's brand.
The Solution
We created a custom eCommerce platform built on Next.js with a headless CMS that gives Jafunk complete control over product listings, content, and promotional campaigns. The site features a distinctive visual design that mirrors the artist's musical aesthetic, with custom animations and transitions that create an immersive brand experience. We implemented an international shipping solution with real-time shipping calculations, duty and tax estimations, and multi-currency support to serve the global fanbase. The platform integrates with Spotify, Bandcamp, and other music services to showcase the latest releases, and includes a tour calendar with direct ticketing links. A custom analytics dashboard provides insights into sales patterns, fan demographics, and product performance to inform merchandise strategy.
